If you have witnessed a history of relationship failures, break-up after break-up, divorce, miserable moms, dropout dads, pathetic parents and crazy kids, we have a question for you:
“How is your marriage going to be any different? Almighty God invented marriage. Why not follow His plan and His direction on how to succeed at marriage? “
Don’t you find it strange that nowhere in life is there a specific plan or some kind of training course in elementary school, middle school, high school, or even college, teaching us how to be effective and successful in our personal relationships?
Would you be surprised if drivers on the interstate were constantly involved in accidents and regularly breaking the traffic laws, if there were no processes nor training requirements for getting a driver’s license?
No. It wouldn’t be surprising since no one was trained or given a set of rules for driving.
But, that’s exactly how we handle marriage.
“You’re about to start dating?” Figure it out.
“Newly married?” Figure it out.
“Trouble being sexually satisfied or sexually satisfying your spouse?” Figure it out.
“Trouble in your relationship?” Figure it out.
The truth is most people don’t figure it out.
Wouldn’t it be helpful if there were a road map for relationship success? A process you could learn from and follow? Wouldn’t it be helpful if you could benefit from a community of people led by trained and seasoned professionals who are working to share with you what they have figured out through thousands of hours of training, counseling, and almost three decades of marriage?
Yes it would be helpful and you are at that place! Teresa and I dated through college. Teresa was at MUW- Mississippi University for Women, earning a B.S in Food and Nutrition and I was a College Football All-American at Delta State University earning a B.A. in Marketing.
We were married at 22 and basically clueless. We didn’t have much knowledge, but we were passionate about learning how to have a GREAT relationship and later that passion grew from our own personal relationship to helping relationships across the world!
Now, almost 33 years later and the parents of four children, Teresa holds a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy (MAMFT, from Reformed Theological Seminary- Jackson, MS. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Mississippi and Illinois, a National Certified Counselor (NCC), Gottman Level I Certified, a past board member of the Mississippi Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, a Certified PREPARE/ENRICH facilitator, and a SYMBIS Certified Facilitator.
I am a Smalley Certified Marriage Intensive Coach, specializing in Weekend Relationship Intensives. I spent most of my professional career as a Corporate Trainer and Seminar Presenter. I am SYMBIS Certified (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) and a past board member of the Mississippi Healthy Marriage Initiative. In addition I spent 7 years on church staff- New Hope Church, Jackson, MS as Director of Youth Ministries and Marriage and Family Ministries.
When we decided to invest in our relationship and commit to growing as a couple, we were truly amazed at the impact of the information we discovered. Then as we begin to share with friends and family, we saw this information have the same transforming impact.
It was like a light-bulb moment; people don’t really know how to be married, and many people don’t even know how to be in a healthy relationship. There is no training ground in life for being a wife, mother, husband or father.
Throughout 20+ years, we started small groups, taught and spoke on marriage and the family. Through this, we saw lives impacted and relationships ultimately improved. We heard over and over again, “You guys really need to be teaching on a larger stage. You have a God given ability to take Biblical truths on marriage and family and make those truths plain, personable, and portable.”
That gift, we believe, from God and our attempt to honor Him in how we steward the gift is what you see here.
We have an inspiring story and we want to inspire you too. We will share from our experiences. Some of our information will be prescriptive (things you will want to mirror) and some of our information will be descriptive (mistakes you can learn from and not repeat).
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please share the podcast, blog, and this website with family, friends, co-workers, Facebook friends, Twitter followers, etc.
We need you to join us in the relationship fight as we work to build Mighty Marriages, Fantastic Families, and Prepared Parents.
You are in the right place. We can help.
